The Salvation Army of Washtenaw County Welcomes New Leadership to Ann Arbor & Ypsilanti

September 2, 2008

The Salvation Army of Washtenaw County (TSA-WC) recently announced new leadership at its Ann Arbor and Ypsilanti Corps.  Major John Williams and Major Dianna Williams will head up the Ann Arbor Corps, while Corps Administrator Jim Hulett will lead operations at the Ypsilanti Corps.

“We are very grateful to have Major John, Major Dianna and Jim on board with The Salvation Army of Washtenaw County,” said Major Norman Marshall, Divisional Commander of The Salvation Army Eastern Michigan Division. “I had a hand in the selection of these new leaders because I am fully confident that their combined leadership experience will prove to be extremely valuable and will help The Salvation Army continue servicing those in need in Washtenaw County.”

Majors John and Dianna Williams begin their new positions with more than 20 years of administrative and pastoral service with The Salvation Army. Their most recent position was in the Flint area.

Major John previously served as Genesee County Commander in Flint. He has also served as corps officer, addictions program administrator, general secretary in the Adult Rehabilitation Centers Command and Property Secretary at Territorial Headquarters, located in Des Plaines, IL. In addition to serving as corps officer in Ann Arbor, he will serve as Washtenaw County Coordinator.

Major Dianna previously served as corps officer in Waukegan, Ill. She has also served as an addiction program director of special services and director of personnel in the Adult Rehabilitation Centers Command.  Most recently she served as corps officer at Flint Beecher and as the Genesee County Command Director of Special Ministries.

Majors John and Dianna have been married for 35 years and have two married sons and five grandchildren who live in Myrtle Beach, SC.

Hulett brings more than 24 years of Salvation Army experience to his new position. As corps administrator, he plans to develop youth programs within the community and form relationships with Eastern Michigan University outreach programs.

Hulett graduated with a Liberal Arts degree from Asbury College in Kentucky and shortly after began his career with The Salvation Army, where he served as Christian Education Director and Red Shield Lodge Director in Miami, Fla. Prior to Hulett moving to Ypsilanti with his wife Jan, he served 21 years as community center director at TSA’s Dearborn Heights Corps. The couple has four children; one son attends Eastern Michigan University.
