Project Guideline for Sponsoring Firms
July 31, 2008
The Marketing Research Design and Analysis course here at the
Ross School of Business; University of Michigan is looking for
potential projects for the fall semester. This is an opportunity
for your organization to work with a group of BBA or MBA students
on your research problems of interest. The only constraint is that
the project has to involve a survey.
It is possible to submit more than one proposal. It is
anticipated that we can accommodate up to 20 projects across all
the three classes. The precise number is impossible to anticipate
in advance, although we hope to minimize the number of proposals
going without groups. The deadline for proposal submission is
FRIDAY, SEPTEMBER 5, 2008.
The quality of student work here approaches, and not
infrequently exceeds, professional level. There are no charges
involved (except in any cases that must be incurred in order to
collect the data, for example, using a commercial online
panel).
In the past, the majority of proposed projects have found
takers, as students far prefer working with 'real' firms on actual
issues. Projects involving small firms, entrepreneurs, e-Business,
non-profits or anything socially-redeeming are particularly
well-received. Multiple projects are also possible, and have
worked well in the past (e.g., one group works on reasonable target
groups, and another on suitable media messages). We anticipate more
proposals for the BBA (full semester) projects; please note that
there will be fewer groups for these, so do consider the other
project types as well.
